N80 is a cool phone and I bought a black one yesterday.

srw985 : I got this phone a few days ago, and it the best phone I have ever used.

One important feature that the device lacks is" auto keylock" support, which thankfully can be fixed with the download of a freeware utility.

The device's media capabilities are pretty good, as it can playback MP3/AAC and MPEG4, but it doesn't seem to support WMA and h. 264 (newer Nokia phones have h. 264 support lately).

In conclusion, I must say that the N80 was supposed to be mostly a multimedia jack of all trades phone -- and it is one-- but for me, it proved to be most and foremost an amazing VoIP phone.

If you are looking at a powerful smartphone with the ability to run native applications and J2ME apps (that don't look crappy), and you need VoIP plus lots of media support and web browsing, this is the phone for you.

Camera forward compatibility fix for FOTA update

I have been given an N80 to fix that has been turned into a brick. (failed during an update) The battery has been charged but handset appears dead. is there a programming header on the n80 that I can use to directly program the handset or will the usb cable still work.

Hey I have a quick question: the main problem with the N80 when using Wifi is its tiny screen.

Some guy brought one in to the shop today, he was wondering why he wasn't using his free SMS, stupid phone was sending SMS as MMS, the usual settings were gone.

Keypad is difficult to text with.

Camera is rubbish, so is flash.

It's such a shame that this phone is so bad, on paper it's a great phone but it is next to unusable crashing regularly takes ages to turn on & ages to send a text it also needs charging daily.

Takes too long (around a minute) to send an SMS message, keypad is too small, hangs up frequently, very slow when switching from one screen to another, shortcut key is totally useless, if not troublesome, battery life is a joke, & so on. You will find yourself cursing when you use it.

Firstly the battery starts to get weaker & weaker, I am now having to charge it up every night & it dies before the end of the next day.

It has a very poor battery life, it is not very good at signal pick-up & tends to lose the call rather than hang in there as so often has been the case with other phones I have had.

Screen goes white, slow start up, slow camera, speakerphone volume too low, centre navigation button too sensitive, battery life too low, stops charging itself.

Battery life is poor at 24 - 36 hours but the phone looks nice.

Only complaints are the battery life is short & no auto slide (maybe due to its size).

The poor battery life I could live with (that's what car chargers are for), but the reception is so weak that I have been constantly missing calls.

Quick review Nokia's N80: Features Fever. . . slider phones has been their cramped, tiny keypads, but the N80 uses a more standard keypad that presented no problems. . .

As such, the keypad may provide a problem for those individuals with slightly chunkier finger.

Pros : Cheap crystal case to protect an expensive phone.

I have tried it and quality is a bit poor, with echo and lag, but it is usable and much cheaper than international call rates on a mobile.

It's a bit annoying, but I wouldn't go as far to describe the file transfer size limit bug as a real turn-off.

We were surprised to find that the large screen can only be switched to landscape mode when using the camera, which is a shame as this could really help with some applications.

This seems strange as these features are available on phones such as the SE K750i, but Nokia seem to have missed the boat in making the most of a camera that can deliver images of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels.

Bluetooth is too slow for HSDPA.

Unfortunately, the N80 makes connecting to a WLAN more complicated than it should be.

I've had mine a while and I hate it now as, yes, it's a great multimedia device but it's an awful phone.

After one 20 minute phone call the N80 lost almost half its battery life, so this isn't ideal.

The leather case for the Nokia N80 is stylish, slim and protects your expensive handset from. . .

Also a very bulky handset.

The silver finish was painted on and wore off making the phone look awful and cheap.

Due to the size ofthe unit, battery life is the only problem.

Bad Points : The phone is unreliable.

I must admit I was the first to complain that the N80 got slower and slower and sending a text message which should be a quick and easy thing to do was a nightmare cause it was taking up to 4 minutes to send a message and meant the phone froze so you couldn't use it until the message had sent.

Being honest, this Nokia N80 is a poor phone from Nokia.

They have obviously not tested it much before they put it on the open market, the software has a lot of bugs.

The negative aspects of the N80 come from its two most important features – the music and camera features.

Nokia N80 is a failure in terms of Camera resolution.
